Tokyo Milk

Gotta share this one. Tokyo Milk by Margot Elena is another fabulous line of cosmetics, cards, makeup and candles from the same Denver based designer that started Lollia Life.

The packaging is what kills me (surprise, surprise) but the scents are lovely and the greeting cards offer wit and charm that are perfect for all occasions.
I love the names of these ones - Cherry Bomb Parfum
I want Candy Parfum $28
The shimmery lip color comes with its own mints to prep your breath and your pucker

The Big Top

The dressing room tents got me thinking that this would be a really fun addition to any room but especially a kids room and it would probably be fairly easy to construct.

Here are some pre-made options, most of what is out there is a little girly and made of polyester.

This is a cotton version, I like the square top.

Let us frolic in my totally dope blanket fort

Date: 2007-03-09, 10:31AM CST

Yes, I know what youre saying, dude, that blanket fort sucks. That would not be the first time Ive heard such short-sighted criticism. Its structural integrity is dubious at best and there isnt a whole lot of headroom. But cmon, its not like Im a freakin architect or anything. Besides, this little baby is just a prototype. I have vast resources of cushions for anchoring and blankets in order to maximize square footage. My living room is just waiting to be turned into a totally sweet labyrinth of love.

I am very open to suggestions in respect to design and construction, as Id like this fort to be a shared vision. Much like the Taj Mahal, its intended that this little beauty will be inspired by a very special lady. Once our shelter is erected, we can move in and work on some of our higher order needs. Or we could just order a pizza and tell ghost stories. Please email me with a picture if you want to be invited to this living room party. It will be sweet.

PS: Im allowed to have sleepovers.

Sometimes all white is right

When in doubt paint it and paint it white. That has always been a way to make a quick fix but white is not a solution that I would automatically turn to.

This space might be enough to change my mind as the white on white boutique manages to be modern, industrial, sleek, rustic and worldly all at once. Besides being a totally swank storefront with amazing sales on shoes, the interiors are calm and relaxing while providing a neutral backdrop for the clothes.
This particular space uses raw touches to give it a unique touch. Wood is the primary element, note the shelving, branches used for displays and the bleached driftwood stumps that double as stools. The subtle ethnic textiles found in the pillows add a smidge of color to all that white.
The dressing rooms are what really complete the space, they are unexpected, ethereal, fun and totally functional. The custom made tents that hang from the ceiling by their iron framework, this combined with their round shape offer tons of space for trying on clothes.

Macaroons

The one thing that I wish we had at the baby shower were macaroons, they look so pretty and when done right are a delightful treat and those could have been our favors. The Brown Palace makes some mouthwatering macaroons (my sister had them as favors for her wedding) but they don't do the varying flavors of festive coloring. There are several sites online that you can order from but it would be great to find someone local to purchase from.

Oh Baby- A pink and white shower

After all that prep, here are the results from the shower this weekend.
The onesies were hung up on a makeshift clothesline using more of that $1/roll ribbon and clothespins ($1.54/50 clothespins)

An antique cradle right at the entrance served as a drop off point for all the loot.

Those pacifiers were hung like streamers from a doorway

A baby shower staple-the diaper cake! A basket of bubblegum and a jar of pink and white jordan almonds were on the entry table.

The pile just kept getting bigger and bigger

The utensils and napkins were contained in one of these cute striped buckets, I was happy that I did not have to do the dishes :)

The cake was made by Child's Bakery, a local fav.

For the little girls that were guests we bought some favors to keep them entertained, some pansies to plant during the party while the adults socialized and little goody bags to take home.

For the bar set up we maintained the pink theme and served Rose sparkling wine, Izzes and pink lemonade. I found these extra long party straws that were a big hit.

The guest of honor gave me these beautiful flowers as a thank you for hosting- she knows me well- I love my flowers!

And that's all folks!
