In the Pink

I could do a post on this color every single day. My love for pink knows no bounds.

Did these pink sapphire earrings just take your breath away?
Created by the lovely Dana of Dana Rebecca Design.

My peonies are teasing me.

Hopefully they will look like this in a couple weeks.

Pink nursery from Gramercy, so adorbs! I especially love the use of more sophisticated pieces like the antique dresser as the changing table, the pagoda lamp and the artwork. I could live there now, as an adult.

And... Pinkberry is opening in Colorado! The grand opening is tonight, after you finish dinner you could go and check it out to see what all the hype is about.

Coulda been mine

This bed was a part of the sale that we went to this weekend. I didn't really think too much about it because I thought it was a Full. Apparently it didn't sell this weekend and my co-worker corrected me and told me it was actually a queen. They had reduced the price since Saturday and the whole package was a pretty good deal. I thought about it, and thought about it, and thought some more, and then it sold to someone else. Oh well.

I'm happy with what I did get- these swirly glasses 5 for $5

These Morrocan tea glasses 6 for $6. They are hanging out with the booze at the bar but they might get more use as votives.
We also got some other fun stuff, things for the kitchen and decorative accessories. This was unlike any other sale I have been to, mostly modern and contemporary items.

Favorite Product! Oliver's Labels

Oliver's Labels are a staple that should be in every parents' bag of tricks. The company was started by a woman who saw her nephew, Oliver, constantly losing track of his stuff. Her printing background led her to create fun and durable personalized labels to put on everything from bottles, sippy cups, food containers, lunch boxes, backpacks and even clothes. The labeling system takes on a whole new meaning when you send your child off to day care or school and the teachers and staff will really appreciate know what item belongs to what child.

The labels are durable enough for shoes
and they are waterproof with a super adhesive to stick on anything.

Fun Bag/Luggage tags

Iron on labels for clothing that will survive the washer and dryer!

Then there is the bonus for all those "misplaced" belonging. Oliver's Labels has the Found It system that provides a tracking number on the label that is connected to your email. If you lose a cup and someone else finds it they can log in to the website and report it found by entering the tracking number. Then you are automatically updated via email that the item has been recovered. So smart!

When you can't take it with you

Then sell it to your friends!

We are headed to a total liquidation sale at the home of a co-worker this weekend. They are selling EVERYTHING and moving to Europe! These are the teaser pictures sent to lure us in. And... they are serving mimosas. Twist our arm will ya?

Bon weekend!

Project: TV Stand Make-over

This little three drawer dresser used to be the night stand in the room that my sister and I would stay in at our grandparents house. I inherited it and put it to work as the tv stand in my living room. The finish was unfortunate. It is this off-white/yellowish color dating from the 50's or 60's and it was blending in with my butter yellow walls,
that I want to paint blue remember?
After determining it wasn't an antique of major value and that I wouldn't be painting over walnut or zebra wood I started to prep it for a paint job. These sanding sponges are the best, so easy to use and they did the perfect job of roughing up the surface.
Picked out my paint color and primer and purchased several cans for the project. It's the worst when you run out half way through the job and end up making 3 trips to the store for the same thing. Buy more than you think, it's cheap ($3 a can) and you can always make one trip back to return the unused paint.
While the paint was drying I started to work on the hardware. The drawer pulls are these beautiful, brass butterflies that you hardly noticed before because the blended with the dresser and were tarnished and dark.
Break out the Brasso and voila! Those butterflies were ready to take flight.

The newly polished pulls went back on the drawers and they looked totally different.

Here she is in all her glory. Such a difference! The butterflies really pop and the plum color is perfect next to my eBay pillows. Yeah!

Spring Planting

Mother's Day has come and gone, and I still haven't bought a single flower, shrub or herb. Our weather has been less than ideal to dig in the dirt but I am starting to formulate a plan.
I hear Costco has large tomato plants for $20 and geraniums for $9.99. Any other deals out there?
