Lovely

This seems like a good "compromise" room - neutral walls and bedding with  just two fun accent colors. It has style and appeal without bashing you over the head. Don't know if a male counterpart would go for it but... it's a start.

Plates in the bedroom are still kind of weird, even though they are mounted to the wall. It's a fun idea for a kitchen or dining room but a room meant for sleeping? Not so much. The rest of the room gets two thumbs up.

Signs of Summer

 Still "feels" like Summer
A special visit (read: not an emergency) from a firetruck on the Fourth of July was a big hit.

Olympic Fever

A snippet of a recent Hudson Studios (grown up space) install.

Came across this while sourcing fabric, reminds me of the Elephant Walk at the Zoo.

It's like the exhibit from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science ended up back at the house. Meat eaters win again, poor Brontosaurus.

Gallery Wall

Still a winner. Great way to cover a wall when you don't have a big piece of art.
The colored mats make such an impact!

Or colored frames - probably cheaper than mats because you can paint the frames.

Nursery of the Week: Orangesicle

Take a closer look at the wallpaper - see all those little friends. Hours of entertainment for a child. They will probably end up taking a marker or crayon to it at some point because it is as tempting as a giant, untouched coloring book but delightful nonetheless.

You Ping, I'll Pong

Just a bit of summer fun has been picking up the ole paddle (or "bat" as my 3 year old nephew calls it) and volleying that little white ball back and forth. There has been more chasing after the ball then actual volleying but when the 3 year old enjoys chasing the ball down you can't complain. One of my favorite memories stem from summers spent at a lake in a cabin where a ping pong table took the prime spot in the great room. Always makes me think how fun it would be to have a table in a main living area, turn the tv off, unplug the computer, silence the phone and have an epic tourney. Windsor Smith did it and made it look stylish.

So when these sleek concrete ping pong tables came up on One Kings Lane recently I knew I wasn't the only one feeling it. Take down the net and you got yourself a dining room table. Would be great for a bachelor pad.

Nursery of the Week: Made with Love

Such a cool memory board - see the woven burlap strips to tuck and clip mementos on to. The scale of the piece totally commands your attention without overwhelming the room.

All the different finishes on the wood pieces keep it interesting, so much better than buying a whole set of matching furniture.
Great paint treatment on the ceiling and an unexpected light fixture make this a truly unique room.
