Closet Solutions

I have a couple of girlfriends who live in older homes that don't exactly have his and hers walk in closets. They have opted to give their significant other the closet in the bedroom and use a smaller spare bedroom as their dressing rooms.

Sounds glamorous! Except they have filled the tiny closet in that room along with the dressers and now need more hanging options. I always try to explain that they can put up temporary racks like a store but the conversation doesn't seem to translate. Thus, the reason these images have come to my rescue, I have been storing them up for a while.

Some smarties thought to take industrial rolling racks/shelving units and drape them in fabric, therefor making little closet units that can be closed up, hiding the clutter. Add a full length mirror leaning against the wall and a little vanity and I would have a hard time leaving that little room.

Nursery of the Week: Cocoa love

That rocker is pretty rad. The pop of white from the crib, in the rug and the fabric for the shades balances out the darker colored walls.

Old vs. New

Ikea opens Wednesday, there are already people in line, camping.
Before we get sensory overload with shiny, new Swedish stuff we decided to stop by a few Antique haunts to see what was what. There was a lot of great stuff but it was overwhelming and I am still sorting through our photos. Just a slice of what we saw.

Lots of the wool Pendelton blankets.

This child's settee was adorable and the existing fabric was pretty cute as is, just needed a cleaning. Unfortunately, it was like $245, maybe because its a rare piece (I've never seen anything like it in person before) but it still seemed overpriced.

The piece de resistance! Isn't she lovely? Of course it was about $1000. Chimps freak me out.

Succulents

Apparently they are pretty easy to grow and maintain. Talk about texture, these are amazing with all the different varieties and they look great in a simple cement planter or the more traditional tera cotta pot. Has anyone tried growing them? What can you tell me?

Nursery of the Week: Up in the air

Love the whimsical hot air balloon mural and the checked drapes in this blue nursery.

Do you know the way?

To Ralph Lauren's Ranch? Its gonna be hot times in the city here this week and seems like the perfect time to escape to the mountains, particularly Ralph Lauren's ranch. Can't quite put my finger on it but the draw might have something to do with the views. If you have done the drive to T-Ride then you might recognize the tepees and his split rail fence.

I already feel 20 degrees cooler.

A nook for books

These are Ikea spice racks mounted and used as book racks

via Grace Happens

House Beautiful

Notice how all these books are displayed facing out, magazine style - that way the book cover is easy to view when its time to choose a story. It also reduces the amount of space needed for the shelving as they are not as deep as a traditional bookshelf.

Bandwagon

Please slow down so I can jump on. Apparently, this is not new as 6,161, 642 other people like this song. Just thought you might enjoy it on a Friday. Next Kings of Leon?

Nursery of the Week: Purple and Red Pop

Mirror - please show yourself the door and then make your way to my house.

Totally not a neutral nursery, this room is the polar opposite of that white one posted last week. Moc Croc ottoman is pretty smart for a nursery, lots of pattern, love the polka dot glider and large scale print on the rug.
